With the Manatee Encounter program, you'll swim very close to these friendly mammals. The manatee will swim near you so you can pet it, then give you a big hug and an adorable kiss. You'll also create an unforgettable bond by feeding our chubby friend — a memorable experience for you and your family. For more fun, admission to Parque Nacional Chankanaab is included in your program, so you can enjoy nature and the facilities to unwind.

What to expect

Arrival and orientation — Arrive 30 minutes before your program for a pre-activity briefing. Please note that wearing a life jacket is mandatory for all in-water programs.

Manatee encounter — Swim up close with the manatees: pet them, receive a hug and a kiss, and feed them to create an unforgettable bond.

Enjoy Parque Chankanaab — After the activity, you can snorkel, explore the gardens, and use the park's facilities until closing time.

  • Children taller than 1.40 m may participate alone and pay the adult rate.
  • Children between 1.20 m and 1.40 m must be accompanied by 1 adult with a paid ticket.
  • Children between 1 m and 1.20 m must be accompanied by 2 adults with paid tickets.
  • Wearing a life jacket is mandatory for all in-water programs.
  • Sunscreen is not allowed, including biodegradable options.
  • Cameras are not allowed in the water; professional photos are available for purchase.
  • If you're arriving by cruise ship, check your itinerary before booking to avoid any issues.
